Why Add a Watermark to PDF?
Watermarks solve communication problems in the document world. Invoice not yet paid? You can send a "UNPAID" version with a prominent watermark so the client does not get confused and think the document approves payment. A project manager sending a document for approval? "PENDING APPROVAL" on every page prevents misunderstandings if the document passes between several parties. A lawyer sending a draft contract? "DRAFT" on every page clarifies this is not the final document for signing.
Small and medium businesses use watermarks to maintain a professional and uniform appearance. A company logo in the corner of every document - invoices, price quotes, contracts, certificates - creates a sense of professionalism and consistency with clients. Freelancers also succeed in standing out with a personal logo on every document they send. And of course, a "CONFIDENTIAL" or "PRIVATE" watermark clearly marks that financial, medical, or legal documents are not for distribution.
Another advantage is protection against misuse. A prominent watermark makes it harder for the other side to take content out of context and use it differently. Images with a logo cannot pass as "anonymous". A document typed in English with your lawyer stamp cannot be copied as another lawyer document. Sometimes it does not prevent misuse entirely - but it makes it harder and less attractive.
How Does the PDF Watermark Tool Work?
Sending a price quote and want to mark it "DRAFT" so the client knows changes are still possible? Forwarding a contract to a lawyer for review and want them to know it is not the final version? Submitting a business portfolio and need to mark all pages "CONFIDENTIAL"? A business wanting to brand all its documents with a logo? The tool adds a text or image/logo watermark to every PDF page - directly from the browser, without installing software.
The process is simple: upload the PDF, choose between text watermark (writing like "DRAFT", "CONFIDENTIAL", company name) and image watermark (company logo, digital signature), and adjust the settings. Real-time preview shows how it will look on the page - you can drag the watermark to the right position, resize by dragging, adjust opacity from 5% to 95%, and rotate from 0 to 360 degrees (45-degree diagonal is standard for "DRAFT" or "CONFIDENTIAL" marks).
You can choose which pages the watermark appears on: all, first page only, last page only, or a specific page range. The tool fully supports Hebrew (Hebrew watermarks display correctly, without word garbling). The final file is a standard PDF that opens in any application.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a watermark to a PDF?
Upload the PDF, choose watermark type (text or image), type the text or upload an image (logo for example), adjust opacity and position on the page, and click "Add Watermark". The preview shows exactly how it will look.
Can I add a logo as a watermark?
Yes. Select "Image" mode in settings, upload the logo file (PNG, JPG, etc.), adjust size and opacity and position. The logo will appear on all pages or a specific page of your choice. Useful for businesses that want to brand all their documents with a uniform logo.
How do I change the watermark opacity?
The settings panel has an "Opacity" slider ranging from 5% to 95%. Lower values create a more transparent (subtle) watermark, higher values create a darker (prominent) one. For "DRAFT" or "CONFIDENTIAL" marks, 30-50% is recommended.
Is the watermark protected from removal?
Yes. The watermark is embedded directly in the file graphics - not a separate layer that can be turned off. It cannot be removed with standard PDF tools without harming content. For documents requiring extra-high security, you can also password-protect the file after adding the watermark.
Can I add a watermark only to the first page?
Yes. In the "Pages" setting you can choose: all pages, first page only, last page only, or specific page range. Useful for official documents wanting a watermark only on the cover page, or booklets needing only the first page of each chapter marked.
Can I rotate the watermark at an angle?
Yes. You can rotate the watermark from 0 to 360 degrees. A 45-degree diagonal rotation is standard for "DRAFT" or "CONFIDENTIAL" marks - it makes the watermark more prominent and touches all the text on the page. 90-degree rotation (vertical) suits a side-of-page watermark.
What happens to the file after adding the watermark?
The watermarked file is automatically deleted from servers after you download. We do not view, store, or share content with any third party. The upload is fully encrypted.
Is there a file size limit?
On free, size is limited to 25MB and on Pro to 100MB. Adding a watermark does not significantly increase file size.
