CONTEXT

Why Convert PDF to Images?

Many platforms do not support PDF - or do not display it properly. LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook do not allow posting PDF. WhatsApp does support PDF files, but they appear as an attachment that needs opening - images appear immediately in the chat. PowerPoint or Google Slides presentations display images more conveniently than embedded PDF. In all these, converting to PNG or JPG solves the problem.

There are also situations needing a specific image from a large PDF: nice graphics from a report you want to publish separately, an image of a signature from a signed document you want to add to another, a screenshot of a page with data you want to send as a summary. Instead of a low-quality screenshot, converting to a high-resolution image gives a sharper result.

Even when the goal is simply printing - sometimes your printer does not handle PDF well (especially with large images), but prints a regular image without problems. Lawyers, doctors, and consultants who need to print PDF pages to add to a client file sometimes prefer to convert to image before printing to ensure the output comes out clean and without distortions.

HOW IT WORKS

How Does PDF to Images Conversion Work?

Need to insert a PDF page into a presentation without display issues? Want to send a PDF page on WhatsApp or in an Instagram story? A designer who wants to extract specific graphics or an image from a PDF document? A teacher who wants to send only the first page of a textbook to the class group? The tool converts each page from the PDF into an image (PNG or JPG) at the quality you choose - perfect for sharing, editing, and embedding in presentations and websites.

The process is simple: upload the PDF, choose output format (PNG or JPG) and resolution (150, 300, or 600 DPI), and click "Convert". A document with one page downloads a single image. A document with several pages downloads one ZIP file containing all pages as separate images (page-1.png, page-2.png, etc.). For JPG you can also adjust quality level from 50% to 100%.

Difference between formats: PNG preserves maximum quality without data loss and supports transparency - suitable for logos, illustrations, and graphics that need to look crisp. JPG uses compression and creates much smaller files - suitable for color images, photos, and sharing on social networks. Difference in resolution: 150 DPI for web and phone, 300 DPI for quality printing, 600 DPI for professional printing.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert PDF to an image?

Upload your PDF, choose format (PNG or JPG) and resolution (150, 300, or 600 DPI), and click "Convert". A document with one page downloads a single image. A document with several pages downloads a ZIP with an image per page.

What is the difference between PNG and JPG?

PNG preserves maximum quality without data loss, supports transparency (transparent background for logos), and is suitable for graphics, sharp text, and illustrations. JPG uses compression and creates much smaller files - suitable for photos, color images, and quick sharing on social networks. Rule of thumb: choose PNG if you need transparency or precision, JPG if file size matters.

Which resolution (DPI) should I choose?

150 DPI is sufficient for web use, presentations, and display on screens and phones - files come out relatively small. 300 DPI is the standard for quality printing - suitable for reports, brochures, and documents you print at home or office. 600 DPI is for professional print shops - marketing materials, posters, publications. Higher DPI = much larger files.

How do I pick one image out of several?

The tool converts all pages in the file. If you want only one page, there are two options: (1) Use the "Split PDF" tool first to extract the specific page, then convert the single-page file to an image. (2) Convert the whole file to images, and open the ZIP - take only the image of the desired page.

My file is large - what size images will I get?

Image size depends on page size and chosen DPI. Rule of thumb: an A4 page at 150 DPI comes out about 1MB in PNG or 200KB in JPG. An A4 page at 300 DPI comes out about 4MB in PNG or 800KB in JPG. For 100+ page documents at high DPI, the final ZIP can be tens of megabytes.

Do the images include the text from the PDF?

Yes. The text becomes part of the image (pixels) - it will look exactly like in the original PDF. The only difference is you can no longer select, copy, or search the text - it is now an image. If you need copyable text, use the "PDF to Text" tool instead.

What happens to the file after conversion?

The original file and final images are automatically deleted from servers after you download them. We do not view, store, or share content with any third party.

Is there a file size limit?

On free, size is limited to 25MB and on Pro to 100MB. Most PDF documents do not exceed 25MB.
