CAPABILITIES

What the editor does

  • Looks like the original. New text in the same font, size and weight as the rest of the page
  • Paragraphs that re-flow. Longer text wraps, and the lines below make room
  • Full Hebrew. Right-to-left, final letters, numbers and English inside a line
  • Untouched words stay untouched. They stay exactly as scanned
  • Forms and tables. A form's rules are borders text does not cross
  • Several pages. Edit several pages and save one file
  • Signatures and markup. Free text, signature, pen, highlight, shapes and pictures - as in the PDF editor
  • Erase a signature or stamp. Drag a frame and it is removed from the scan itself
CONTEXT

When is it useful?

A wrong name, date or amount in a document you only have as a scan. An old letter or form with no source file. A photographed contract that needs one detail updated without retyping the whole thing.

Important: the tool is for correcting your own documents. Do not use it to alter official documents, certificates or other people's documents.

HOW IT WORKS

How do you edit text in a scanned document?

A scan is a picture of a page. Regular PDF editors see one big image, so all they can do is cover a word with a white box and type over it in another font - and it looks pasted on.

Here you edit the scan like a document: click a paragraph, type new text, and the paragraph re-flows like in a word processor. The result looks as if it had been printed that way.

QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can you really edit the text of a scanned PDF?

Yes. In a scan the text is part of the picture, so a regular PDF editor cannot change it. Here you click a paragraph, type the new text, and it appears on the page as if it had been printed that way.

Will the new text look like the original?

Yes - same font, size and weight, on the original baseline. Words you do not change stay exactly as scanned.

What happens when the new text is longer?

The paragraph re-flows like a word processor: words move to the next line and the lines below make room. Table cells and form rules act as borders, so one cell never spills into the next.

Does it work in Hebrew?

It was built for Hebrew first: right-to-left, final letters, numbers and English inside a Hebrew line. English documents work too.

Can I sign a scanned document, or erase a signature from it?

Yes. The toolbar adds free text anywhere you click (to fill in details, for example), a signature (draw, type or upload), a pen, highlights, shapes and pictures. You can also erase a signature, stamp or picture from the scan: drag a frame round it and it is removed from the page itself. Table rules or a signature line crossing the frame stay.

Is my file kept?

The file is deleted from the server shortly after you finish. Full details are on the privacy page.

Why "beta"?

The tool is new and still improving. It works well on most documents, but very faded scans, handwriting and pointed (nikud) pages may be limited.
