Israeli Bank PDF Forms: Fill, Sign, and Submit

Practical guide to PDF forms for Israeli banks - account opening, loan application, mortgage. How to fill, sign, and send correctly, and what to do when the form won't open.

3 min read

In short: Israeli banks are increasingly strict about document format. All forms - searchable PDF, clear, readable, and correctly signed. Documents that don't meet requirements come back with a request to resubmit.

What Banks Require

Israeli banks used to accept documents in any format. They're more selective today:

  • Searchable PDF - not a black-and-white scan with text as an image
  • Minimum resolution - 300 DPI for scans
  • Readability - every field clear, dates and numbers legible
  • Completeness - all pages of the document, not just one of three

Common Problems and Solutions

"Documents came back - they asked to send again"

Common causes:

  1. Text not searchable - pay stub scanned rather than generated digitally. Run OCR or request a digital version from the payroll department.
  2. Unreadable file - low resolution. Re-scan at 300 DPI.
  3. Missing document - you forgot a page, or the bank added a requirement. Check the full list.
  4. Unclear file name - "scan001.pdf" means nothing. Rename to "pay-stub-2026-01.pdf".

"The form won't open"

  • Download again - a file received by email sometimes arrives corrupted
  • Try Chrome - opens most PDF forms
  • Check if encrypted - some bank forms arrive with a password. The password is usually in the same email
  • See what to do when a PDF won't open

"The form won't let me type"

Two situations:

  1. PDF with locked fields - the bank locked the form. Print, fill by hand, scan.
  2. PDF that is an image (scan) - no fields. Use the PDF editor to add text on top of the image.

"I need to sign 12 pages"

For power of attorney for a bank account - Israeli banks usually require a branch visit. For other forms:

  1. Open in the PDF editor
  2. Add a digital signature to each relevant page
  3. Download with automatic flattening
  4. Submit

Secure Submission to the Bank

Bank Portal - the Best Option

All major Israeli banks provide a secure document upload portal:

  • Bank Hapoalim - online banking / app
  • Bank Leumi - secure personal area
  • Discount Bank - document upload portal
  • Bank Mizrahi, FIBI - similar systems

Prefer the portal over email when possible.

Email - Acceptable

If emailing your banker:

  • File encryption - password-protect the PDF. Send the password via a separate channel (SMS)
  • Bank email - send to the official address you received, not the banker's personal Gmail
  • Clear subject - "Mortgage Documents - John Smith - 12345678"

WhatsApp - Only If Approved

Some agents accept an initial WhatsApp scan for a quick look. But it's not a secure channel for financial data. The final version - always through an official channel.

Submission Order

When sending a full package - send in logical order:

  1. ID card
  2. Pay stubs (oldest to newest)
  3. Bank statements
  4. Completed and signed forms

Backup

Keep a copy of everything you sent. If a document comes back with a question - you'll know exactly what you submitted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign a bank form digitally?

Depends on the bank and form type. Many forms Israeli banks provide as PDFs are adapted for digital signature. However, power of attorney for a bank account and major account changes usually require a branch visit.

The form won't let me type in it - what do I do?

Some bank forms are image-only (scanned) and not a PDF with fields. You can add text on top using a PDF editor. Alternatively, print, fill in by hand, and scan back.

I sent documents to the bank and they asked me to send again - why?

Common reasons: files not searchable (missing OCR), unreadable file (low resolution), missing documents (banks request a full package), unclear file name.

What documents do I need for a mortgage application?

Usually: last 3 pay stubs, 3-6 months bank statements, Form 106 (annual), employment confirmation from employer, ID card. Different banks add additional requirements.

The bank is asking for a 'native PDF' - what does that mean?

Some banks request that the PDF be 'native' - meaning created directly from a computer rather than from a scan. If the source is digital, the PDF you download from the system is native. If you only have a scan - contact the document issuer for a digital version.

Can I send bank documents via WhatsApp?

Some banks accept documents via WhatsApp as an initial step. However, WhatsApp is not end-to-end encrypted for files, and not all branches allow it. The bank's encrypted portal or email is the safer option.

How do I send documents to the bank securely?

Three options by security level: (1) bank's secure portal - best, (2) encrypted email - acceptable, (3) WhatsApp - only if the bank explicitly approved it.
